The Brock Badgers women's hockey team have tasted defeat for the second time this season.
Â
In their first home game of the season at Canada Games Park on Friday, Oct. 23., the Brock Badgers were outlasted by the Nipissing Lakers, who found an overtime winner to take the contest 3-2
Â
The Badgers offense was provided by a pair of third-year forwards, as
Ellie French netted her first goal of the season for the game's opener, finishing off a breakaway shot five minutes into the opening period.
Â
Despite the Lakers equalizing midway through the first frame, the Badgers were able to take a lead into the first intermission, as
Avery Diljee slotted home another with less than three minutes in the period.
Â
The Lakers responded with their second goal in the second period to knot the game up once again at 2-2, a scoreline that would remain unchanged throughout the remainder of regulation.
Â
Nipissing found the winner with the first shot of the overtime period to bring the contest to an end.
Â
Fourth-year netminder
Hali Lawrence made 20 saves in the game.
Â
The Badgers will look for an immediate bounce back, as the Queen's Gaels arrive at Canada Games Park for a duel on Saturday, Oct. 23., at 6 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased on
