The Brock Badgers men's hockey team's three game win streak has come to an end.
Travelling back home to begin a two-game homestand, the Badgers were beaten 4-3 by the Western Mustangs in a shootout at Canada Games Park on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The Badgers initially broke the deadlock with nine minutes remaining in the first period, as
Zack Stringer sniped home a loose puck on the powerplay for his third goal in his last two games.
The Mustangs responded with two powerplay goals of their own to end the first period, taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period in which Brock limited their opponents to just seven shots, the Badgers were able to level the contest midway through the final frame, as
Ryan Johnstone banked a shot off the Western goaltender for his second goal of the season.
The Mustangs answered by taking the lead less than three minutes later, before
Natan Ethier grabbed his team leading fifth goal approaching the final minute of regulation to send the game to overtime.
After a scoreless additional period, the visitors grabbed the winner in the fourth round of the shootout.
Up next, the Badgers will welcome the Toronto Varsity Blues to Canada Games Park for a battle on Thursday, Oct. 29., at 6 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased on
