Game Recap: Women's Hockey | | Luke O'Brien

Women's hockey opens road weekend at Queen's

The Brock Badgers women's hockey team faced a hard-fought matchup in the Queen's Gaels on Friday, Nov. 6.

The Bagders fell 4-2 to the first place team in the OUA East division to begin their eastern Ontario weekend road trip in Kingston, Ont.

Ellie French opened the scoring for the Badgers midway through the first period on her second tally of the season, with Taylor Wolsey and Parker Talbot drawing the assists. Brock recorded eight shots on net in the opening 20 minutes, while Brock goaltender Hali Lawrence stopped all 10 shots she faced.

Queen's evened the scoring with a power play goal four minutes into the middle period and took their first lead of the game at the halfway mark of the game.

With the Gaels holding on to a one-goal lead for most of the third period, the Badgers pulled their goalie for the extra attacker and applied pressure as the clock wound down. A shot by French in the slot was stopped by the Queen's goaltender, but a rebound in front was collected and deposited into the net by Talbot to even the score with a minute to play.

The Gaels answered back just 15 seconds later to re-take the lead, and added an empty net goal to close out the game.

Talbot led the Badgers in scoring with a goal and an assist, the first multi-point game of the emerging Badger's career.

Brock looks to rebound on Saturday, Nov. 7 with a 7 p.m. puck drop in Oshawa, Ont. against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. The game can be seen live on OUA.tv.
