Women's Volleyball
Friday, March 6: W 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 25-18) vs. McMaster Marauders (OUA Quigley Cup Final) | Box Score
Written by Connor Bangham, Sports Information Intern

The home crowd at Bob Davis Gymnasium was electric as the No. 4 nationally ranked and OUA top seed Badgers defeated the No. 3 seed McMaster Marauders 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 25-18) in the Quigley Cup championship match to claim their fourth provincial title on Friday night. OUA Player of the Game Daryan Chadwick led the way with a career-high and game-high 18 points from 17 kills and a service ace, while Charlotte Ross (13.5), Madison Tuck (13) and Emma Baruchelli (13) all produced double-digit points. Mackenna Knox recorded a match-high 45 assists and was strong defensively with a team-high 14 digs. Trailing 20-16 in the first frame, McMaster cut the lead within one with three straight kills, but the hosts were not fazed as they answered back with a 5-1 run to win 25-20. The second saw the teams trade 9-3 runs, but it was the visitors who clawed back from a late 23-21 deficit to take the set 26-24 after a block on the final point. With the Badgers trailing 18-14 in the third frame, Tuck earned three kills as part of an 11-5 Brock surge that gave the home team a 25-23 victory. Despite outhitting Brock .294 to .200, McMaster could not win the kills battle as Brock bested them in that category 17-13 in the third. Chadwick scored seven of Brock's first 14 points, all from kills, en route to a 25-18 fourth-set victory, securing the OUA title for the Badgers. Hitting efficiency was crucial, with Brock hitting .273 compared to .204 for McMaster. Defensive play was another major factor as the home team delivered 62 digs to the visitors' 50.
