Daryan Chadwick (Barrie, Ont.) of the women's volleyball team, Michael Ivanov (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.) of the men's track and field team, Chloe Zaraska (Toronto, Ont.) of the women's track and field team and Rémi Ouellette (Haute-Aboujagane, N.B.) of the men's track and field team have been named Brock University Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 8.
Chadwick led the Badgers to their fourth OUA Championship in the last five years, besting the McMaster Marauders 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 25-18) in the Quigley Cup Final at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday, March 6. She recorded a career-high and game-high 18 points off 17 kills and one service ace. In the first set, the third-year outside hitter delivered four points from three kills and one service ace to give the Badgers a 1-0 lead. After combining for six kills in the second and third sets, Chadwick capped off her career performance with her best showing in the fourth frame. After her first kill put the Badgers up 1-0, Chadwick added six more, helping ignite a run that pushed Brock ahead 18-9 before closing it out 25-18. This standout performance earned her OUA Player of the Game recognition, in what was a redemption win for the Badgers as they fell in last year's final to this same Marauders team 3-0.
Travelling to Winnipeg for the 2026 U SPORTS Championships, Ivanov earned his second consecutive gold medal in the men's pole vault event on Saturday, March 7. The Business major cleared his first attempt of 4.60-metres, before clearing 4.70m on his next vault. After faulting his first attempt of 4.80m, Ivanov cleared this mark on his second try. With the competition winding down to its last remaining competitors, the York Lions' Liam West was not able to clear the 4.90m height on his first attempt. This granted Ivanov the opportunity to secure the gold medal as he vaulted past the 4.90m mark on his first try.
In her first-year with the Badgers, Zaraska set a program milestone, earning the first women's gold medal in school history with her sensational performance in the women's high jump on Saturday. The fifth-year Nursing student opted to pass on the 1.52m and 1.57m attempts, before clearing the 1.62m mark on her first try. Electing to pass on the 1.67m height, the Toronto native matched the Manitoba Bisons' Lara Denbow by recording successful jumps at 1.70m and 1.73m, both on their first attempts. These jumps earned Zaraska the first gold medal and second podium finish of her U SPORTS career as she earned a bronze medal in 2024 while as a member of the Guelph Gryphons.
Rounding out the gold-medal haul for Brock at the 2026 U SPORTS Championships, Ouellette captured gold in the men's para shot put F41 ambulatory event on Saturday. In his first attempt of the afternoon, the Sport Management major recorded an 8.90m throw, which was a personal best at the time. His next two attempts came in at a distance of 7.96m and 8.58m. Aiming to build on this, Ouellette registered a career-best 9.08m, besting the previous mark he set on his first throw of the competition. Finishing with his final two attempts, the third-year student-athlete recorded efforts of 8.97m and 8.69m to cap off his weekend.
