Max Burroughsford (Port Dover, Ont.) of the baseball team and Maddy Heeley (Alliston, Ont.) of the women's soccer team have been named the Brock University Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 20.

Burroughsford, a second-year General Humanities major, was untouchable on the mound for the Badgers in their 2-0 victory over the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday, Sept. 20. The right-hander pitched all seven innings to register a complete game shutout, while limiting opposition hitters to just three hits and one walk while striking out five. Burroughsford's efficiency on the mound and ability to limit base runners capped off an impressive weekend for the Badgers, helping the team secure their eighth victory of the season and sweep their doubleheader against the Warriors.

Fifth-year goalkeeper Maddy Heeley was at the heart of Badgers undefeated weekend, keeping two clean sheets and making 17 saves across two games. Beginning the weekend on Friday, Sept. 18, against the Laurier Golden Hawks, the Master of Professional Kinesiology major denied all 10 shots that came her way to help the Badgers earn a hard-fought point on the road. She followed suit with a seven save performance in a home win against the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday, Sept. 20. Heeley's heroics in net have been instrumental in the Badgers impressive defensive record, with the team conceding just one goal through six matches while remaining unbeaten in the 2026 season.
