Phil Sullivan

For the past 25 years Phil Sullivan has coached a number of different rugby programs, including recently as the head coach of Ridley College for the past five years. He began his coaching career in 1988 as the head coach of Gonzaga Regional High School’s girl’s squad in St. John’s, NL where he spent four seasons. He was also the head coach of the Vandals RFC in Newfoundland from 1990-92. In 1992, he took over as the head coach of the University of Windsor men’s program for five seasons (1992-97). He worked as an assistant coach with the Brock women’s rugby team from 2000-02 and also held head coaching positions with Grimsby Secondary School (2003-05) and Niagara U 14/U16 Boys (2011). Sullivan also coached Ridley College’s team for five seasons.

As a player, Sullivan played 13 seasons with the Vandals RFC from 1987-2000. He also played for the University of Windsor from 1993-95 and with the Windsor Rogues from 1996-2000. In Niagara, he has been a member of the Grimsby RFC (2000-2003; 2009-2011) and Niagara Wasps RFC (2004-2006).

Sullivan is in his 19th year at Brock University as a professor in Applied Health Sciences. He holds his undergraduate degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Master’s Degree from University of Windsor and holds a PhD in Sport Psychology from Michigan State University.
