Brock University Athletics

Erik Van Wissen, a native of Georgetown, Ont, joined the Brock soccer team as an assistant coach in 2014. He started at Brock as a student-athlete in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences in 2009.

While attaining his education, Van Wissen played five seasons on the varsity men’s soccer team and served as captain for three seasons. After completing his playing career at Brock, he transitioned into coaching with the goal of mentoring young athletes for generations to come.

Van Wissen’s soccer philosophy is summed in a quote by legendary Brazilian footballer Pelé: “Success is no accident. It’s hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”
