Coach Ian Eibbitt was recently appointed as the new full-time head coach of the Brock University men’s volleyball program. In 2022-23, he led the team to an undefeated regular season record at home and history-best 15-5 overall regular season record, achieving a third-place finish in league play. The team was also ranked a season-high ninth nationally; a program-best since it’s resurgence in the 2016-17 season.
Previously, Eibbitt was the lead assistant coach with McMaster University from 2017-2023 where the program achieved three OUA championship banners and 2 national bronze medals.
Eibbitt also acted as the interim head coach for six months during the summer of 2022 and during the transition of Coach Preston’s retirement and the hiring of current head coach Brad Douwes.
He brings a wealth of coaching experience spanning over 2 decades at the club, provincial and national team levels. Eibbitt is a certified performance coach and last summer was the lead mentor coach for the Team Ontario Red programs. He is currently the head coach of the 2025 Canada Summer Games team and in 2017 was on the coaching staff that won the gold medal for Ontario at the Canada Games held in Manitoba.
Eibbitt has been involved with many stages of the Volleyball Canada pathway. He began his national team journey in 2019 as the Assistant coach for the U19 Youth National Team. He then moved onto the National Excellence Program in September 2020 and most recently was the assistant coach on the junior national team from 2020-2021 where he experienced a major competition at the U21 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. He also worked with the NextGen team in the same summer that qualified Canada into the World Championships.
