John Sawchuk

John Sawchuk began coaching the Brock curling program in 2019. 

He holds a Bachelor or Physical and Health Education from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University.

Sawchuk, a Fonthill native, is a high school teacher within the District School Board of Niagara and teaches Physical Education and Special Needs. 

He has curled for more than 20 years, including competitively in the Ontario Curling Association at a variety of levels including Colts, Intermediates and now Senior Level. Sawchuk has won many club championships, local curling bonspiels, and Zones Championships at the OCA level.

Sawchuk has coached basketball and volleyball teams at the club and high school level and traces his coaching roots to 2005. He has since coached a variety of Ontario Curling Association Competitive Teams at the Provincial Level and on the Junior Curling Circuits where he has captured three Ontario Curling Championships at the U18 and U21 levels.

His program goal is to continue the Brock tradition of being one of the strongest university programs in Ontario by consistently capturing medals at the OUA Championships and representing Brock proudly at U SPORTS Championships.
