In 2016, Scott Anderson (B. PHE ’83 and B. Ed ’89) began my coaching at Brock University as an assistant rowing coach with the lightweight men’s varsity rowing program.

Anderson, who is from St. Catharines, co-coached with Tom Kent from 2016-19.

The men’s rowing program won a provincial banner at the OUA Rowing Championship in 2017 thanks to several outstanding performances by Anderson’s student-athletes. He named the OUA Male Rowing Coach of the Year alongside Tom Kent.

Anderson and Kent were also named the Canadian University Rowing Association’s Male Coaches of the Year in 2019. He also earned the RowOntario Competitive Rowing Coach of the Year.

In addition to coaching at Brock University, Anderson is the lead lightweight men’s rowing coach at the St. Catharines Rowing Club. Having been involved in the SCRC Men’s Lightweight program since 2008, many athletes he’s coached have progressed from the St. Catharines program to the U23 and Senior national team and competed at the World Championships and Olympic Games.

Anderson’s background of competing as an athlete includes the World Championships and Pan American Games.

He is a Certified Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) Performance Coach. As well as a Certified Coach Developer and Coach Developer for RowOntario and RCA.
