A Level 2 World Rugby coach, Amanda Andres was born and raised in St. Catharines.

Andres attended Niagara College after graduating from Holy Cross Secondary School. During college she played for the Brock women’s rugby development team from 2011-12.

She found no local women’s rugby teams when she graduated high school, so she started the Thorold Badgers Rugby Club in partnership with the Brock women’s rugby coaches at the time.

They eventually merged with the St. Catharines Tigers where she say on their executive panel and played in the senior women’s program.

She is currently on the executive team for the Niagara Rugby Club and coaches the Junior Boys U18 team while assisting with the Senior Women’s squad which plays in the Ontario Women’s League.

After an injury sidelined her playing career, Andres became involved with Rugby Ontario’s Jr. Blues program as an assistant coach/manager with the u16 provincial girls team, which went on to win a gold medal at nationals in Calgary in 2017.

She is currently coaching with the Jr. Blues U16 and U18 programs.
