Jac Harris began coaching track and field in 2009 and is currently entering her fifth year as an assistant coach with the Brock Badgers, her second year as the head sprints coach.
A Niagara local, Harris grew up in Jordan and attended Beamsville District Secondary School where she was a five-time OFSAA Track & Field Top 10 finisher, boasting a silver and bronze medal in the 400m. She later competed for the Brock Badgers where she was a two-time Female MVP on the track, graduating with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours).
During her four seasons as an assistant coach at Brock, the talented young coach has helped the team grow and develop, consistently qualifying more athletes for the OUA Championships year after year. In her first season as the head sprints coach in 2019-20, Harris led the Brock sprinters to the program’s most successful OUA Championships to date with five top-10 finishes, and five team records broken in the sprint events along the way. Under her leadership, the Badgers
sent their second-ever athlete to the U SPORTS Championships (the first in a track event) with sophomore Tyrell Smikle, who went on to place ninth in the nation in the men’s 60m dash—the highest U SPORTS finish in program history.
Harris looks forward to continuing to help develop a competitive program with the Badgers in future seasons.
