Murray Etherington

Murray Etherington enters his seventh season as the head coach of the Brock men's and women's curling program.

Etherington’s commitment to the improvement of the athlete, the program and the sport is truly commendable. For the past three years he has led the Brock women’s team to the podium at the CIS/CCA National Curling Championships where they have captured one bronze and two silvers.

At the 2012 Nationals in Welland, Etherington led both the Brock men’s and women’s team to the podium with the women capturing silver for the second straight season and the men bringing home bronze, their first medal in school history.

In 2011, the legendary coach was inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame at a special ceremony at its new home the Gale Centre. This past season, Etherington was named the OUA Coach of the Year and received the 2011-12 Brock Coach of the Year Award Presented by Josten's.

Etherington is recognized in many of the Clubs across Ontario and is respected by many of the OCA organizers, coaches, players and volunteers. In 2007, when the Ontario Junior Mens' team happened to make it to the nationals, their coach did not have the certification to take them there. Without hesitation, Murray was mentioned and was quickly asked by the men's team from Brantford who had known Murray over the years, recognizing his and his various coached teams' accomplishments and the fact he had national certification.
