Hall retired from teaching and started as an assistant coach with Brock University in 2014 continuing to the present.
Hall grew up in London, Ont and was introduced to hand ball in high school. He played squash at Western University, but did not really commit to squash until he started teaching at Ridley College in St Catharines where they have three squash courts, and competitive junior teams from elementary school years straight through to high school graduation.
Hall became an assistant coach in 1981 in the high school division and earned Level 1 and 2 Coaching Qualifications; in addition, he has taken numerous coaching seminars and weekend training sessions, including a two-day workshop with the two head coaches at Cornell and Harvard. He's an active certified official, as well as playing for many years on a Squash Niagara team. Hall has served as a long time Squash Niagara board member and a past-president.
