Budgey, a third-year Business Communication student, earned pivotal points with a gold medal won in the 76kg event to help lift the Badgers to a seventh consecutive OUA Championship banner. The team co-captain earned early pin fall victories over his competitors from Queen’s and Toronto, before a convincing 12-0 technical fall win over McMaster propelled him into the gold medal match. In what would be a thrilling crowd pleasing final match, Budgey battled his way to a 14-12 decision win over his opponent from Lakehead to claim his second straight OUA Championship gold medal in the 76kg category.
