Gavin Taylor, a third-year Teacher Education major, played a vital role on both sides of the ball in the Badgers undefeated weekend and provincial title. Over three games, the sure-handed shortstop went 4-7 at the plate, with two home runs, five runs batted in and two walks, providing valuable production at the bottom of Brock’s lineup. Taylor made all the difference in the gold medal game against the Laurier Golden Hawks, mashing a two-run homerun to drive in the only two runs of the contest. Defensively, Taylor also snagged a line drive to turn an inning-ending double play as Laurier threatened down the stretch. The veteran’s clutch contributions proved to be the difference-maker in helping the Badgers secure their first OUA Championship title since 2014. Â
