Gutierrez-Sarabia, a first-year Critical Criminology major, was exceptional for the Brock fencing team as the Badgers hosted the best in the province at Ian Beddis Gymnasium for the OUA Fencing Championships this past weekend. Beginning his competition on Day 2 of the provincial showcase, Gutierrez-Sarabia delivered an impressive run in the individual men's epee bracket, scoring quick round-robin victories before claiming wins over competitors from Guelph, Western, and RMC in the elimination rounds. Reaching the championship final, he battled until the very end in a one-point defeat to finish with the provincial silver. Right back at it the next day alongside his teammates for the men's epee team relay, Gutierrez-Sarabia helped the quartet of Badgers to victories over Waterloo, Carleton, and McMaster to claim his second OUA medal of the event garnering a bronze medal result. The first-year standout was also awarded the George Tully Trophy for overall sportsmanship.
