Friesen, a second-year Psychology major, showcased her abilities at the U SPORTS Women's Wrestling National Championship in Edmonton this past weekend claiming the national gold medal in her 56kg weight class and being named U SPORTS female wrestler of the year. On the mat, Friesen earned technical fall wins over Guelph (10-0) and Alberta (11-1), before picking up the pin over Concordia (0:52) securing her place in the championship final. Matching up with Calgary in the Saturday showdown she once again put on a display as she claimed the gold following a spotless 10-0 technical fall victory. Along with her individual success, Friesen and the Badgers women's finished second overall in the team rankings.
