Madalyn Weinert continues to make her case for a second consecutive Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Player of the Year award. On Friday, Jan. 31, the fourth-year Medical Sciences major delivered her first triple-double of the season in the 77-53 victory, putting up 18 points while adding season highs in rebounds (17) and assists (10). The next night on Saturday, Feb. 1, Weinert scored 27 points and collected 14 rebounds in the commanding 75-41 win. Over the weekend, she added four blocks and five steals, showing her versatility on both ends of the floor. She now has 12 double-doubles on the season and her 21.0 points per game puts her first in the province and second in the country. In addition, the fourth-year guard/forward also ranks second in the OUA and fourth in U SPORTS in rebounds per game with 11.6. This marks the second time she has won Athlete of the Week honours this season.
