For the first time in his young university career, Yazdan Farokhizad is a national champion. The Sport Management student improved on his second-place finish a year ago in the 90kg division to claim gold in 2025. In the pool play matches on Friday, Feb. 28, he was sensational, winning two matches by fall at 0:28 and 1:08, respectively, while also getting a victory by technical fall 12-2. On Saturday, March 1, Farokhizad squared off with the previously undefeated Thomas Rousseau from the Alberta Golden Bears. In just 35 seconds, the second-year wrestler ended the match by technical fall 10-0. He was given a First Team All-Canadian selection for placing first in his weight category at the awards banquet that took place after the event.
