Improving from his bronze-medal performance from a year ago, Mason Mastroianni took home a gold medal in the men's 65-kilogram division at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championships on Saturday, Feb. 7, in London, Ont. The Dramatic Arts major won his first two matchups by technical fall, then earned a closely contested 11-6 decision over Gianluca Fortino of the McMaster Marauders to finish off his round robin competition. These three victories earned the fourth-year student athlete a spot in the 65kg finals, a match he won by fall at two minutes and 16 seconds. This result marked Mastroianni's first provincial gold medal in his career and helped the Badgers earn their 10th straight and 27th overall provincial banner.
