ST CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University women's volleyball team (1-2 OUA) lost 3-2 in a tough five-set match (25-20, 27-29, 26-24, 21-25, 15-6) to the Queen's Gaels (2-0 OUA) on Sunday afternoon in the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The teams went back and forth throughout the match with Brock winning sets two and four, while Queen's managed to win the first, third and final sets to pick up the 3-2 win.
First year middle
Brianna Hamilton had an impressive game leading the Badgers with 11 kills, followed by
Lucy McLay who finished with 10 kills and eight digs. Sophomore
Maddie Brown contributed 13 total points on eight kills, four solo blocks and two block assists.
Lauren Stirling had game high 33 assists.
A pair of seniors led the Gaels on offense with Kelsey Bishop and Katie Hagarty registering 18 and 14 kills respectively. Gabrielle Down contributed with 29 assists in the win. Brett Hagarty finished with a game high in digs with 20.
As a team, Brock had a hitting percentage of .122 registering 43 kills along with 25 errors on 147 attempts. Queen's finished the match with a .174 hitting percentage with 30 errors on 149 attempts.
The Badgers next action will come at home next weekend when they take on the RMC Paladins (0-1 OUA East) Saturday and the Windsor Lancers (2-2 OUA West) Sunday with both games being served at 1pm in the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
