ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (0-6 OUA West) fell to the hands of the No. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens (6-0 OUA East) by the score of 92-61 Saturday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Ravens jumped out to an early 8-0 lead before Brock's offense answered back and trailed 17-14 halfway through the opening quarter.
Carleton would then put together a 14-2 run over the next four and a half minutes, leading 31-16 after one quarter. To open the second quarter, the Ravens went on a 13-0 run, extending their lead to 27 points and cruising to their sixth straight victory of the regular season.
Carleton had four players record double figures led by Connor Wood who led all scorers with 17 points including five three-pointers. The Scrubb brothers, Thomas
(16 pts) and Philip (15 pts), combined for 31 points while Tyson Hinz contributed with 11 points and nine rebounds.Â
The Badgers also had four players reach double digits led by senior
Tshing Kasamba (St. Catharines, Ont.) who added 12 points and seven boards.
Brandon John (Toronto, Ont.) added 11 points while
Jeremy Angelini (Hamilton, Ont.) and seniorÂ
C.J. Smith (Scarborough, Ont.) both chipped in with 10 points each in the loss.
The Ravens shot 46.0% (29-for- 63) from the field including 41.4% (12-for-29) from beyond the arc.
They were also 22-for-30 (73.3%) from the charity stripe. Brock was 18-for-56 (32.1%) from the floor and 8-for-26 (30.8%) from long range. They struggled as a team from the free throw line going just 17-for-30 (56.7%). Carleton won the battle on the glass outrebounding Brock by a 43-25 margin.
The Badgers next action is November 22nd and 23rd when they are on the road against the Queen's Gaels and York Lions to close out the OUA interlock play.
