Brock women’s volleyball drop 3-1 decision to Lancers

ST CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University women's volleyball team (2-3 OUA) dropped a 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-19) decision to the Windsor Lancers (4-2 OUA) on Sunday afternoon in the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

After dropping the first set 25-19, the Badgers came back strong in the second registering 14 kills with a hitting percentage of .273 compared to .118 for Windsor.

The Lancers were able to keep the ball in play the next two sets committing just six errors while connecting on 20 kills. Brock struggled to find the rhythm they had in the second set, picking up 15 kills to go with 14 errors.

Senior Shenise Power and junior Katie Murray led the Badgers offensively putting up 13 and nine kills respectively. Power was a force at the net with six solo blocks to give her a game high 19 points. Lauren Stirling continued to prove her prowess as a setter registering 35 assists to give her 154 on the season.

The Lancers had three players with double digits in kills led by Mackenzie Coyle and Kaila Seguin with 12 followed by Shannon Dean with 11. Coyle also collected a game high 24 digs in the win.

As a team, the Badgers hit just .097 with 40 kills to go with 27 errors on 134 attempts. The Lancers hit .192 with 41 kills to go with 16 errors on 130 attempts.

The Badgers will travel to Waterloo and Hamilton next weekend to take on the Warriors Saturday at 2pm before a Sunday afternoon matchup with McMaster at 1pm.
