The Badgers got out of the gate in fine fashion to start the 2013 OUA season on Sunday at Varsity Stadium in Guelph. The Badgers battled the host Guelph Gryphons, last years Silver medalists to a 9-9 draw. The game was a see saw affair with the lead exchanging hands several times.
The game was highlighted by incredible goaltending by Brock's
Eryn Matisz who stopped 13 shots. The Badgers enjoyed a balanced scoring attack from
Eryn Brown, 2 goals one assist, Victoria Herron 2 Goals one assist,
Kathryn Simpson 1 goal two assists,
Sarah Simpson two goals,
Kendra Byers one goal one assist, and
Chauncey Mills one goal.
In the second game, the Badgers battled with the Trent University Excalibur, coming out on Top 13-8. Erin Matisz stopped 8 shots.
Kendra Byers lead the scoring with six goals,
Kathryn Simpson with three goals,
Eryn Brown with two goals,
Rebecca Farthing,
Camilla Silva, and
Victoria Herren with singles. No assists were added to the game sheet.
Next week the Badgers travel to McMaster for games against the host Marauders and York Lions.
