Women’s lacrosse continues strong form on Sunday

The Brock Badgers women's lacrosse team picked up its third win of the season this weekend. 

In their opening match on Sunday, Sept. 29, the Brock Badgers secured a 14-6 victory over the McGill Martlets in Peterborough. 

Brock fell 15-6 in their second game on Sunday to the Trent Excalibur.  

Game 1:  Brock 14 - McGill 6 

The Badgers used a strong opening half of the game to propel themselves over the Redbirds. 

McGill struck first in the contest but goals in quick succession from Aisha Hoover, Kyla McGuire and Gabby Winters helped Brock take a 3-1 lead early.

Abby Holliday was the Badgers' top scorer in the victory with six goals, including three coming in the first half to help Brock take a commanding 7-1 advantage over McGill.

Also in the first half, Rachel Woods scored for Brock, with the seventh-year midfielder having two goals in the win.

The first three goals of the second half were scored by Holliday as Brock stormed to an insurmountable lead over McGill. 

In the second half, Hoover, Liv Dion, Abbey Penner and Kennedy Smith each earned a goal.

Kamryn Brown was in the net for Brock against McGill.

Game 2: Brock 6 - Trent 15 

At their home stadium, the Trent Excalibur took the win over the Brock Badgers by a score of 15-6.  

Trent scored first in the contest, but Brock quickly equalized thanks to a goal from Dion.  

After two quarters played, Excalibur had taken an 8-3 lead that they would not relinquish.  

Holliday continuing her form from the win over McGill scored three goals against Trent.  

McGuire and Woods scored for the Badgers in the loss. 

Brown was the Badgers' goalie against the Excalibur. 

Next, the Brock Badgers women's lacrosse team heads to Hamilton to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10:15 a.m. Later that same day, the Badgers will face the McMaster Marauders at 1:45 p.m.
