ST CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University women's rugby team (1-3 OUA) lost a hard fought contest to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday afternoon by the score of 13-7.
Laurier got on the board first with a try from Samantha Reid 10 minutes into the game.
Briana Wilson would chip in with her own try later in the half to put the Golden Hawks up 10-0.
Laurier's Jennifer Gilmour was successful on a penalty goal attempt before the first half came to a close, sending the Badgers into halftime trailing 13-0.
Brock would pick up all of their points in the second half as
Madeline Arnott got the Badgers on the score sheet with her first try with the team.
Emily Voisin was successful on the conversion to cut the deficit to 13-7.
Late in the game, Brock came close to scoring on multiple occasions but the Golden Hawk line held tough keeping the Badgers from getting into the end zone.
The Badgers will be on the road in their next action when they take on the top ranked Guelph Gryphons (4-0 OUA) next Friday at 6pm.
