ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (0-7-2 OUA) dropped an 8-4 decision to the No. 7 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks (6-3-1 OUA) Sunday afternoon at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
The Badgers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the opening 1:16 with goals from
Christina Ieradi and
Erin McColm. Laurier's Megan Howe beat Brock starter
Stephanie Loukes, cutting the lead to one after 20 minutes.
Ieradi put Brock up 3-1 early in the second period, before the Golden Hawks answered with three straight from Katia Piccoli, Laura Brooker and Jessie Hurrell to take a 4-3 lead. Brock's
Brittney Cabral tied it up late in second period, sending it to the final 20 minutes deadlocked 4-4.
In the third, it was all Laurier, as they scored four straight times with single markers from Montana Merante, Tammy Freiburger, Heather Platt and Hurrell, on route to the 8-4 road victory.

Jessica Fickel added two more assists on the season putting her just four points way from becoming the all-time Brock scoring leader (48G, 61A, 109 points). She looks to surpass Kate Allgood and Kelly Walker who both finished their Brock careers with 112 points.
In goal, Laurier starter Amanda Smith registered 21 saves for the victory. Loukes recorded 24 saves in the loss.
The Badgers next action is Nov. 21st and 22nd when they are on the road against Western and Windsor.
