WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock Badgers women's hockey team (0-8-3 OUA) dropped a 6-1 decision to the Windsor Lancers (8-2-2 OUA) Saturday night at the South Windsor Arena.
Jessica Fickel found the back of the net on the powerplay at the 19:30 mark of the third period for the Badgers lone goal. It was Fickel's third tally of the season and 110th point of her illustrious career (112GP, 49G, 61A, 110 pts), putting her just two behind all-time points leaders Kate Allgood (69GP, 62G, 50A, 112 Pts) and Kelly Walker (131GP, 56G, 56A, 112 pts).
Jenny MacKnight led the way for the Lancers with the four-point performance, including the natural hat-trick. Erinn Noseworthy (1G, 2A), Candace Kourounis (1G, 1A) and Krystin Lawrence (1G, 1A) rounded out the Windsor scoring.Windsor outshot Brock 42-14 overall. T
he Badgers were 1-for-6 on the powerplay, while the Lancers were 0-for-4. Emily Kelly got the start in goal for Brock and allowed five goals on 16 shots.
Stephanie Loukes finished the game permitting one goal on 26 shots. Windsor starter Ingrid Sandven turned aside 13 of the 14 shots she faced for her second win of the season.
The Badgers now return home to face the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers next Saturday and Sunday. Both games start at 2:15 pm at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
