HAMILTON, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (5-7 OUA West) ended the first half of the season with a 3-1 loss (19-25, 25-23, 23-25, 17-25) to the McMaster Marauders (6-3 OUA West) Friday night at the Burridge Gymnasium.
Leading the Badgers offense was senior
Katie Murray who finished with 10 kills and 15 digs for the double-double. Sophomore
Maddie Brown and junior
Renee Helmer both contributed with eight kills each, while senior setter
Lauren Stirling added seven kills and 23 assists. Defensively, junior
Karlinna O'Leary led all scorers with a game-high 21 digs.
McMaster was led by the trio of Taylor Brisebois, Lauren Mastroluisi and Joanna Jedrzejewska who registered 17, 12 and 11 kills respectively. Brisebois hit .615 for the match (17-for-26, 1 error) while Mastroluisi added 20 digs for the double-double.
Brock hit .133 for the match adding 42 kills and 25 errors on 130 total attempts. McMaster finished with a .211 hitting percentage collecting 50 kills, 22 errors on 133 offensive attempts.
Over the holidays, the Badgers will take part in the University of Toronto National Invitational Tournament (NIT), December 28-30, at the brand new Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
