Badgers women's lacrosse start season 2-0

The Women's Lacrosse team opened their season with a pair of wins this weekend. While it may have rained on Head Coach Ken Byers 60th birthday, it didn't spoil the party or the team's spirit.

The lady badgers stormed out of the gate with a solid first weekend to start the 2014 OUA Women's lacrosse season by knocking off the Guelph Gryphons and the Queen's Golden Gaels at Varsity Stadium in Guelph.

The Badgers had slow starts in both games failing to bury good chances in the early going of both games but settled down and got the job done.

Strong defence, fast transition, ball movement, patience and solid goaltending by both goaltenders were the key to the two results.

The rain didn't slow the Badgers attack. After defeating Guelph 12-6, Queens was next, with the Badgers defeating the Golden Gaels 13-6.

Next action for the Badgers will be this coming Saturday, September 20th as they welcome the McMaster Marauders on home turf. Their lone home game of the season is part of Homecoming weekend. Game is scheduled for an 11:30 AM start.
