Box Score ST CATHARINES, Ont - The Brock Univerisity women's volleyball team (7-7 OUA) defeated the Guelph Gryphons (6-6 OUA) Friday evening, by the score of 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 28-26, 25-17, 15-9), at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

This was a division rivalry matchup at its finest as both teams would put forward their best in an effort to move into second place in the west.

The Gryphons started strong – locking up the first two games with 25-23, and 25-19 victory's. But Brock wasn't to be outdone; the Badgers would rally back, in front of a strong home crowd, winning the next three consecutive games on route to the 3-2 thrilling comeback victory.

The Badgers used a balance offensive attack; led by Abby Jenkins and Stacie Thomas who both added career highs in kills, tallying 15 and 14 respectively. Renee Helmer recorded a double-double adding 11 kills and 18 digs to the Badgers point totals. Maddie Brown rounded out the Badgers top scorers collecting 10 kills for the night. Brock Setter, Lauren Stirling, tacked on seven kills and 12 digs while adding a season-high 49 assists. Karlinna O'Leary continued her stong play at libero scoring a career-high 42 digs in the match.

Rebecca Breau had a strong match for Guelph collecting 14 kills and 18 digs in the loss. Madison Dedecker was also a key player for the Gryphons – putting up 10 kills and 12 digs for her team in Friday's match. Ashleigh Andzel totalled 37 digs for the match.

The Badgers hit .141 in Friday's contest collecting a season-high 65 kills, and 36 errors on 206 total attempts. On the other side of the net, the Gryphons alloted a .137 hitting percentage totalling 51 kills, and 26 errors on 182 total attempts.

The Badgers return to action tomorrow evening, January 17th, at 7pm as they welcome the OUA West leading McMaster Marauders to the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
