KINGSTON, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team fell to the Queen's Gaels by the score of 4-3 Saturday night at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
Queen's opened the scoring 12:26 into the opening period on the powerplay, as
Slater Doggett and Spencer Abraham setup Peter Angelopolous for the 1-0 lead.
Brock evened the game 1-1 seven minutes into the second period when rookie
Skylar Pacheco (Kitimat, BC) beat Queen's starter Jacob Brennan for his second goal as a Badger.
Mitch Nardi (Hamilton, Ont.) and
Chris Maniccia (St. Catharines, Ont.) added the assists.
At 11:26 of the second period, Queen's Slater Doggett would find the back of the net on Brock starter
Real Cormier (Trenton, Ont.) to put the Gaels up 2-1. Angelopolous and Brendan Kennedy added the helpers. Three minutes later, Queen's would take a two-goal lead as
Joseph Luongo and Cory Genovese found Harrison Hendrix for his first goal of the season.
The Badgers cut the Gaels lead to one goal with less than a minute to play in the second period. With the man advantage,
Maniccia and Pacheco setup Sammy Banga (Windsor,Ont.), who buried home his second goal of the season.
Brock's Nardi evened the game at three a piece 7:15 into the third period, adding his second of the campaign.
Just over two minutes later, Queen's Patrick McGillis slid home the eventual game winner. Andrew Wiebe and Kennedy added the assists.
In goal, Cormier suffered his third loss of the regular season registering 34 saves. Brennan collected a game-high 40 saves for the victory.
The Badgers will be at home for their next four games, beginning next weekend when they host the Nipissing Lakers October 23rd at 7:25pm and Laurentian Voyageurs October 24th at 3:15 pm.
