ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to the visiting Nipissing Lakers Saturday afternoon at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
The Badgers peppered Nipissing starting goaltender Jacqueline Rochefort in the opening 20 minutes, but Rochefort stood tall turning aside 11 of her game high 27 saves in the first.
The Lakers got on the board 6:18 into the second period as Alexis Debol and Zosia Davis setup Molly Sipprell for the powerplay marker. Just under two minutes later, Nipissing would take a 2-0 lead, as Janica Vossos one-timed a pass from Natalie Graham which beat a sprawled out Brock goaltender
Stephanie Loukes.
Rochefort recorded the shutout victory with a 27-save performance and Loukes suffered the loss allowing two goals on 18 shots.
The Badgers return to action Sunday afternoon at 2:15pm when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
