
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's lacrosse team ended the OUA regular season with a 9-3-1 record as they went 2-2 in the final weekend. The Badgers will now advance to the OUA Championships being hosted by UOIT.
On Saturday, the Badgers dropped both games losing to Toronto and Queen's.
Versus Toronto, the Badgers fell by the score of 10-6. Kathyn Simpson added five of Brock's six goals, with
Kassidy Doherty adding a single goal. In the 15-10 loss to Queen's,
Kendra Byers led the scoring with four goals. K. Simpson and
Eryn Brown both added two goals and two helpers, while
Doherty chipped in with two goals.On Sunday, Brock ended the four-time defending OUA Champion Western Mustangs win streak at 64 games, handing them their first loss since October 30, 2010. The Badgers trailed 10-8 with 10 minutes left in regulation, before answering with the final three goals for the 11-10 upset victory.
Scoring for the Badgers were K. Simpson with five points adding three goals and two assists. Brown chipped in with three goals, while Byers (2G),
Sarah Simpson (1G, 1A) and
Breanne Gillie (1), rounded out the Badgers offense.
In the final game versus York the Badgers came out on top by the score of 12-2. Brock had eight different goal scorers; Melissa McCall (2G, 2A),
Samantha Shure (2G, 1A), Alison Boulanger (2G),
Alarice Will (2G), Byers (1G), Ally Brown (1G),
Grace Whitfield (1G) and Doherty (1G).
