Box Score ST. CATHARINES, Ont.- The Brock University men's hockey team (0-1-1 OUA) lost their OUA regular season homeopener by the score of 3-1 to the Western Mustangs Friday night at the Seymour Hannah Centre.

The Badgers opened the scoring 12:30 into the opening period as Sammy Banga (Windsor, Ont.) and Chris Maniccia (St. Catharines, Ont.) setup Mitch Nardi (Hamilton, Ont.) for his first career regular season goal.

With just under two minutes left in the first, Western would tie the game 1-1 as Sean Callaghan found Matt Marantz who registered his first goal of the campaign.

With 2:21 remaning in the second period, the Mustangs took a 2-1 as Trent Ouellette beat Brock starter Real Cormier (Trenton, Ont.). Alex Micallef and Jed Rusk added the assists.

Western closed out the scoring 4:58 into the third period as Andrew Goldberg added hist first of the season.

In goal, Cormier registered 34 saves in the loss. Western starter Greg Dodds turned aside 30 of 31 shots he faced for the victory.
