ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's hockey team (6-10-4 OUA) dropped a 4-2 decision to the No. 10 ranked York Lions Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
York opened the scoring seven minutes into the opening period as Justin Larson and Greg Milner setup Trevor Petersen for his 12th goal of the season. With 28 seconds left in the first period, Brock evened the game 1-1 as
Ryan Purvis (Orillia, ON) and
Jamie Kendra (Markham, ON) found
Jeff Corbett (Uxbridge, ON) who slid home his second goal of the campaign.
With eight minutes left in the second period,
Brody Silk (Iroquios Falls, ON) would beat York starter Chris Perugini to give the Badgers a 2-1 lead.
Dan Tanel (Mississauga, ON) and
Evan Morden (Swan River, MB) added the assists.
The Lions answered back with two goals just 45 seconds apart, with less than five minutes left in the second period, as Reid Jackman batted one out of the air for his sixth goal of the year and and Petersen added his second goal of the night, which proved to be the eventual game winner.
Milner added an empty netter with 1:39 left in regulation to secure the road victory.
Brock starting goaltender
Real Cormier (Trenton, ON) collected 36 saves in the loss while Perugini added 20 saves for 10th victory of the season.
The Badgers next action is Saturday night as they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on the road at Varsity Arena.
