NORTH BAY, ON - The Brock University women's hockey team upended the No. 8 ranked Nipissing Lakers by the score of 3-2 in double overtime Saturday afternoon on the road.
Brock opened the scoring late in the opening period as
Amanda Ieradi (Stittsville, ON) beat Nipissing Lakers starter Jacqueline Rochefort for her first goal of the season.
Kaitlyn Colonna (Mississauga, ON) and
Melissa Hurrell (Caledon, ON) added the assists
The Lakers would answer with two goals in the second period to make it 2-1. Jade Gauthier added her third goal of the campaign 3:20 into the second and with 2:40 left in the period, Laura McKenzie beat Brock starter
Jensen Murphy (Kingston, ON) for her second goal of the year.
Eight minutes intro the third period, Brock would get a power play marker from
Lisa Buratynski (Ajax, ON). Kim Brown (Toronto, ON) and
Jazz Kennedy (Oakville, ON) added the assists.
After a scoreless first overtime, it took just 43 seconds in double overtime as rookie standout
Annie Berg (Beamsville, ON) played hero again as she beat Rochefort for her third game winning goal of the season. Maggie Spratt-Mallick (Caledonia, ON) and Colonna collected the helpers.
Murphy registered 31 saves for the victory while Rochefort added 27 saves in the loss.
