Brock women's rugby fall to No. 2 ranked Guelph

3945ST. CATHARINES, ON – The Brock women's rugby team fell to the hands of the division leading Guelph Gryphons, by a score of 117-0, which marked the second day of homecoming weekend at the Brock Rugby Field.
 
The Gryphons (2-0), who are ranked No. 2 in the country, took an early 24-0 lead within the first twenty minutes before taking a 57-0 advantage going into the half.
 
The Badgers fought until the very end of the game but could not break through the tough Guelph defense that had only allowed seven points against them in two games.
 
Guelph was led in particular by Kendra Blackbourne who registered 27 points adding a try and 11 converts and Breeann Keogh-Chin who added four trys. Alexandra King and Alyssa McDonald each added three trys. Julie Schell and Elizabeth George both added a pair of trys. Whilst Alexandra Everett, Kylie Shaughnessy, Bronwyne McCrone and Cara Humeiuk added one try each.
 
The Badgers return to action Saturday September 24th at 1pm where they will host the Western Mustangs.
