The Brock Badgers women's lacrosse team finished 6th at the 2017 OUA championships hosted by Laurier Golden Hawks.
They started the weekend on Friday in the quarter finals against the Toronto Varsity Blues and lost 12-6. Tied 4-4 at half, the badgers had majority of possession for the game until 10 minutes left in the game. The Blues were able to capitalize and extend their lead to 12.
Eryn Brown, one of our graduation players finished the game with 3 goals.
Victoria Halliday added in 1 goal and 2 assists. Mel McCall and
Brittany Schwende with one goal each. Player of the game went to Brock's graduating goalie,
Mackenzie Singer.
The Badgers came out strong on Saturday against McMaster winning 9-2 to play for 5th place on Sunday. Brown and
Lindsey Highfield led the scoring with 3 goals each. Schwende adding in 1 goal with 2 assists. McCall and
Hannah-Brie Scott snuck in 1 goal each with assists from
Hillary Baum and
Victoria Halliday. The Badgers goalie Singer and starting defence;
Kendra Byers,
Shauna Muir,
Hillary Baum, and
Lyanne Martin stayed strong only allowing 2 goals. Player of the game went to Brown.
The Badgers finished their season with a hard fought loss for 6th place against the 2016 OUA Champions, Trent Excalibur. Brock came out strong the first half with
Olivia Langdon adding in the first goal in the first minute. The score was tied 3-3 at half. The Excalibur were able to get on a role in the second half to extend the lead and win 12-5. Schwende; another one of our graduating players added in 1 goal and 1 assist. Brown and Highfield finishing with 1 goal, assists from McCall.
Olivia Langdon received player of the game.
The Badgers received 3 OUA All-Star Awards this season.
