The Brock University women's volleyball team dropped a tough five set decision to the No. 7 Ranked McMaster Marauders Sunday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
This match was exciting from start to finish. McMaster rallied to take Game 1 (26-24) and won Game 3 (25-20). Brock took Games 2 (25-21) and Game 4 (25-23). In the fifth and deciding set, in front of a strong Brock crowd, the Badgers took an early 4-1 lead before McMaster rallied late to steal Game 5 by the score of 16-14.
Leading the Badgers offense was
Renee Helmer who finished with a match high 19 kills and six digs.
Darby Taylor contributed with 11 kills and four aces while
Laura Condotta added 10 kills and 10 digs for the double-double. Setter
Emily Armstrong collected 41 assists and 14 digs for the double-double while libero
Julia Balatbat added 14 digs in the loss.
For the Marauders, Rachel Woock recorded 13 kills, while Jill Eisenhauer and Aleks Arsovic chipped in with 11 kills each. Setter Caitlin Genovy added 36 assists and eight digs.
For the match, Brock registered 53 kills with 16 errors on 125 attempts for a .296 hitting percentage. McMaster had a .294 hitting efficiency adding 52 kills with 15 errors on 126 attempts.
