The Brock University women's hockey team continued their winning ways as they defeated the Windsor Lancers by the score of 2-1 in shootout Sunday afternoon at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. With the victory, Brock moves into second in the OUA standings with a 5-2-2-1 record and 20 points.
Brock opened the scoring seven minutes into the opening period as
Kimberly Brown setup Kat Whiteye for her first career regular season goal.
Windsor would tie the game 1-1 with six minutes left in regulation as Kennedy Snively found Danielle Butler who beat rock goaltender
Jensen Murphy to sent it to overtime.
With no scoring in the overtime, this one would be decided by shootout. After three shooters, it was tied 1-1 with Brock
Maggie Spratt-Mallick and Windsor's Jasmine Morning scoring. Fifth shooters
Christina Ieradi and Reagan Kaufman would make it 2-2, before the Badgers Kat Whiteye, the eighth shooter, buried the game winner.
In goal, Murphy recorded 33 saves plus six more in the shootout for the victory. Windsor starter Molly Jenkins collected 34 saves in the loss.
The Badgers are on the road November 23rd and 25th when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks and Waterloo Warriors in two key OUA matchups. Â
