Box Score The Brock Badgers men's basketball team flew out west to Edmonton to compete in the University of Alberta Golden Bears Invitational this weekend.
The Badgers lost their first game to the UBC Thunderbirds by a score of 81-73 on Friday.
"We felt we had a good start to the game and were happy with the execution of our game plan," said head coach Madhav Trivedi. "We couldn't find a good rhythm in the second quarter offensively which hurt us a bit."
UBC led 40-36 at the half.
"Second half was back and forth and both teams made runs," said Trivedi. "Unfortunately for us UBC closed the fourth quarter really well. We were happy with our guys coming off the bench and playing some quality minutes."
Johneil Simpson and Ryan Cassidy each scored 18 and 17 points, respectively. The duo combined for 10 rebounds.
Tyler Brown recorded 14 points and Daniel Cayer added eight points and four steals.
In their second game on Saturday, the Badgers lost 82-70 to the host Alberta Golden Bears.
Noah LaPierre led the way with 14 points, while Brown and Cayer each added 12.
Alberta took a 37-32 lead into halftime.
The Badgers now prepare for their regular season opener at Bob Davis Gym on Friday, Oct. 26 when they host Laurier at 8 p.m.
