Head coach Steve Delaney is encouraged by his squad's compete level heading into the 2018-19 season after playing three games in the McMaster Thanksgiving Classic in Hamilton from Oct. 4-6.

"The weekend was very promising as we did a ton of learning and competed hard," said Delaney. "We will need to stabilize our serve reception, serving game and will need to get everyone healthy to reach our max potential this season."

Brock's young players also stood out.

"I'm especially pleased with the play of our rookies as they more than held their own during their first real test versus OUA competition," added Delaney.

Brock lost to the defending champs, Ryerson, by a score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 29-27) on Thursday.

"Although we were missing a few key pieces we still managed to put up a good fight," said Delaney.

On Friday, the Badgers battled back in four sets to overcome Nipissing (24-26, 25-17, 25-21, 25-16) in the consolation final.

Brock took Lakehead to the limit in their final game, but lost an exciting five-game match 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 15-10).
