Box Score Johneil Simpson scored 29 points and the Brock Badgers dismantled the Laurentian Voyageurs 102-88 in Sudbury on Friday.
"It was a tough road game. They stuck together throughout the whole game," said head coach Madhav Trivedi. "There were times where Laurentian brought it to within one point, but our guys followed the game plan and really stuck to it in the offensive end."
Simpson moved past Gord Wood as No. 7Â among all-time Brock men's basketball scoring leaders with a total of 2,398 career points. Simpson is 227 points away from catching No. 6 Ryan Dudley.
Simpson also notched five rebounds.
"If you look at the numbers, the best part about today is that the guys were sharing the ball like crazy," said Trivedi. "All of the guys were happy for each other and excited for each other. Anybody who came into the game executed their role and were heroes within their role."
Daniel Cayer scored 25 points and recorded 10 rebounds. Cassidy Ryan posted 20 points and six boards, while Tyler Brown contributed 14 points and 13 assists.
Kascius Small-Martin collected five rebounds and dished out four helpers.
The Badgers shot 58.3 per cent from the field and led 50-43 at halftime.
Kadre Gray scored 28 points to lead Laurentian.
"He's one of the best player's in the country, so it's a little tough, but he only scored eight points on us in the second half," said Trivedi. "We'll take this win. It's always a tough place to play. They're a very good team. They're well coached. Nipissing isn't going to be an easier, so we just have to stick to our game plan."
