The Brock women's basketball team fell in a tight match against the Queen's Golden Gaels on Friday.
Unable to keep up with Queen's scoring late in the game, the Badgers deficit grew larger and they ultimately lost the game 75-63.
Melissa Tatti led all scorers with 15 points for the Badgers.
Meagan Charbonneau contributed 13 points, Kristin Gallant added 12 and Miranda Smith posted 12.
"I thought we fought hard, it's definitely the little things that added up like giving up second chances, not rotating on defence and giving up the middle lane that made the difference," said Charbonneau. "We just had lapses where we didn't play together and it cost us the game."
Brock kept pace with the Golden Gaels in the first quarter with points from multiple starters and key stops defensively from players like Tatti and Gallant.
The Badgers were able to hold the Golden Gaels close and end the first quarter down 15-12.
The multi-faceted offence the Badgers used in the first quarter surged them forward in the second as shooters started connecting more shots.
Sparked by a surge of three-pointers by Charbonneau and Smith, Brock fought back throughout the middle of the game but their hot hand cooled off and the defence started to shake. Queen's pushed ahead once again and finished the third quarter ahead 52-44 leading to their victory.
The Badgers (3-7) will look to bounce back from this loss the following night when they play host to the York University Lions.
