Box Score The Brock women's hockey team skated in the holiday break with a record of 4-3-3-2.
"We are feeling decent about the first half of the season," said head coach Margot Page. "We have four of 12 forwards and four of six defencemen playing regular minutes that are first-year players and we are above .500, which is not too shabby."
Waterloo squeaked by Brock 2-1 at Seymour-Hannah Arena on Saturday.
"Moving forward we need to look after the puck. It's like a hot potato out there sometimes," said Page. "Quite often we make the puck someone else's problem. We have to calm down and make positive plays in all zones."
The Warriors' Angela MacDonald scored a goal late in the first period to open the scoring and Selena Dirven put Waterloo ahead 2-0 in the second.
Annie Berg broke Waterloo goaltender Amanda Smith's bid for a shutout at 13:31 of the third period. Hunter Accursi added an assist.
Badgers netminder Jensen Murphy made 33 saves. Brock fired 22 shots on Waterloo's net.
"We need to also find a way to play with the same urgency in the first period compared to the way we play when we are behind in the third period," added Page. "Those two things need to happen if we want to make playoffs again this year."
The Badgers return to the ice on Jan. 5 versus York at Seymour-Hannah Arena.
