Goalkeeper Marilena Spagnolo (St. Catharines) stole the show with 12 saves to keep the No. 5 Western Mustangs off the board as the Brock women's soccer team held on for a 0-0 draw.
Spagnolo's highlight save came when she stopped Western's top striker during a penalty kick.
"A big shout out to Marilena," said head coach Kevin Trethowan. "She read their striker's body language really well. It was a great save."
Western outshot Brock 17-2.
"The stats may show that Western dominated the game, but the girls worked and defensively we were unbelievable today," said head coach Kevin Trethowan. "I think we thoroughly deserved the point.
The Badgers sport a record of 2-4-3, but are looking for a strong showing with the addition of St. Catharines-born centre back Cody Wright, who made her OUA debut on Sunday.
"Codi is extremely quick and strong and Western gave her Player of the Game," said Trethowan.
On Saturday, the Badgers lost 2-1 to the Windsor Lancers at home.
"Two mistakes cost us, but we outplayed them. We outworked them," said Trethowan.
The Badgers started the season with a pair of wins, but have since lost or settled for draws. Trethowan and the Badgers have recently changed formations from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2.
"The 4-3-3 just wasn't clicking. Against Windsor we used a 4-4-2 for the first time and I thought we dominated the game," he said. "Today, we were just defensive and sound all the way through."
The Badgers will finish the month of September on road at Guelph (Sept. 29) and York (Sept. 30) before playing four of their five games at home in October.
