Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Stephen Leithwood

Women's volleyball team survives late Lancer rally

The Brock women's volleyball team held off a Windsor rally to earn their first victory of the second half.

The Lancers battled back to win the fourth set and force an extra set, however the Badgers regrouped to win 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 15-8) at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Sunday.

The win was much needed after the Badgers fell 3-1 to Western at home.

"It was really good to see us battle back after a loss. We were better in every statistical category today, especially putting our serves in the court," said head coach Steve Delaney. "Our attacking efficiency was way better which made the difference. That's huge for us to get our first win of the second half."

Third-year setter Emily Armstrong returned to the lineup after recovering from an ankle injury. She posted 36 assists and 10 digs.

Grace Pyatt, who posted seven kills and a .500 kill percentage, was named player of the game. Pyatt recorded six blocks.

Laura Condotta posted 20 kills, 17 digs and three service aces. Grace Edwards chipped in 10 kills, 11 digs and two service aces.

Alanna Norris secured 12 digs and Darby Taylor added nine kills. Mikaylla Law-Heese registered 16 digs.

The Badgers passed at a rate of 2.19 as a team.

Up next, the Badgers (6-5) host Lakehead (1-6) on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.
